Such an important topic and skill to learn. May we all have compassion and love for the aging, the frail, and the dementia challenged. We can never be too kind or too educated when it comes to this.

It is so very true. I am proud to share what we are learning. And advocating for him. Also proud of the article for Maria Shriver. It is linked. I hope folks spread it far and wide! 🤍

Beautiful job doing this work, thinking and showing up so lovingly for your dad and sharing your learnings. Praying American hospitals, ERs and medical professionals will put into practice. I was heartened by this story on NPR I heard right after reading your piece.🤍Emergency Rooms for geriatrics are helping older patients get diagnosed accurately

Thank you Terri. Being Grief Informed, Elder Informed...none required in school as a therapist or physician, or nurse. I hope this changes. There are a few electives offered. As I shared in my piece, unless a hospital provides a 'specialty' staff are not required to take any continuing education. Befuddling. And in the case with my Dad, even in the ambulance - training would provide such a comfort to the patient, many whom have no friends and family close by or living.

I share these lyrics in my 2nd memoir about Jake, titled RECORD SCRATCH...so sweet. And now the lyrics are flipped to Jake from me about death.

It's so lovely that your dad is such a sweet person through this. You are very fortunate.
