Thank you for sharing. After my husband died, I wrote “letters”...very helpful for my processing. Now getting through the grief of a job loss, writing cover letters/resumes. And resuming morning/mourning pages.
job loss is one that does not get the grief it so deserves. thank you for naming it. and I have always felt that the pages reveal to us what is so deeply needing to be known on the inside. thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the gentle nudge to go back to writing my morning pages. I’m not sure when they stopped but you’ve made me realise that I miss them. Oh and new notebooks!
Beautiful, Barri. I celebrated my one-year Pages anniversary yesterday, and wrote at Oblivious Witness about the serendipity of celebrating that anniversary by watching Julia Cameron live on stage in Sante Fe. What a gift she is to the world! I love your idea of Mourning Pages. My daily practice is helping me through my grief over the loss of my parents. Thank you for the work you do. 🙏
That is serendipitous and bittersweet. Tell me their names. So many folks have told me they have a pages practice and how it has helped them to process their grief. It is one of the greatest tools. Thanks for writing. And here is to year two!
Hi, I also attended the Writing Room retreat online. It was marvellous and I missed some due to time zones. I’m trying to find the recording for the session that SARK did. Do you happen to know from your notes when that was? I’ve looked through the recordings on the Writing Room app (free version that we have access to for the recordings) and her name is not listed, so I wondered what session to go through to find her! 😀
I told my therapist this was grief season for me. It kicked off last week, four years to the day my father was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. He would move on less than three months later, but my time with him was the richest, deepest, most fulfilling experience of my life. So this grief season is dedicated to morning/mourning pages, sketching out a shitty first draft, and getting our story out there. Thank you for the inspiration and motivation today.

Thank you! My parents' names? Herman and Wilhelmina. x
A new notebook always helps me. An artist's date to get one and buy new pens and maybe stickers for the cover.

I am sorry I don't -- but write to them directly!
