Take this four minutes with you…literally and figuratively. Close your eyes and let the words wash over you. It feels good to be read to, doesn’t it?

Bring it on a hike. Cue it up for before bed. Yes, it is about my Dad’s dementia, but it is packed with lessons, hope and grief tending tools, I wish I had known back when. It is the story of a daughter’s love and a father’s lessons. Wise counsel, imparted in a different way these days.

A sense of presence. Of knowing these may be lasts. Taking in the moments and minutiae of the everyday. He teaches me. It is a meditation to be in his company.

This moment in time was only three years ago. He was living at home then. He knew my name. Walks required no assistance.

Loving what is left is the most powerful and provocative lesson. Thanks for listening. x, Barri (and Neil!)
